Runners- I'm looking for a watch?
I'm looking to buy a good running watch. I had a nike Heart Rate Monitor one and it broke. I need one that calculates speed with at least 8-lap memory, heart rate, and distance with gps rather than foot pod. Preferably water resistant and not too bulky. Also less than $300, *if possible*. Any suggestions or reviews? Thanks
p.s. Any thoughts on the Timex Ironman Bodylink?
The Garmin Forerunner 305 is what you're looking for. I just bought one from amazon for about 150 USD, and it works great. It's probably the most accurate of the GPS running watches currently available, and it's only the two pieces, the watch and the chest strap.
The Timex bodylink GPS function has a reputation for being a little flakey at times. In order to get the same functionality of the Forerunner you need the watch, chest strap, gps module and data logger (which you normally have to purchase separately)
should i get a running watch?
im a runner in high school and in cross country and regularly run 5k's 10k's and running a half marrathon or possible a full marathon in mid august. So i am seeing all the nice running watches w gps and heart rat monitor and all the fancy stuff but do i really need this?!? And they all sem to cost from $150 - $400!! ... Right now i use a crapy $5 watch from 7/11 that gets the job done. So should i take the plung and purchase a running watch?? I kind of want one and have $80ish to spend on either that or some new running kicks...............so should I buy a fancy running watch (which one)..or just stick w the $5 watch i already have??? ty
